Description
Position Responsibilities:
• Design and develop test methods and appropriate test setups to verify design intent and test product requirements
• Standardize test methods and fixtures.
• Execute test methods as interface with lab technicians
• Write automated test programs with data acquisition software
• Explain and teach new test methods to technicians that will be performing the test.
• Work with reliability, quality, and design assurance groups to ensure that the testing meets our product and regulatory requirements.
• Work with R&D engineers to ensure desired test outcomes are communicated effectively.
• Understand and provide input on product or component technical specifications and/or design.
• Analyze data, summarize test conclusions, and coordinate report generation with technical writers.
• General laboratory activities such as equipment maintenance and repairs.
• Review engineering documents such as drawings, reports, procedures, etc.

Technical competencies: 
• Solid application of technical principles, theories, and concepts.
• Develops solutions to difficult technical problems of wide range in scope.
• Able to work in a team environment and contribute to achieve the required goal.
• Strong mechanical and/or electrical design knowledge regarding tooling and test equipment.
• Strong software programing knowledge specifically in the area of data acquisition.
• Documents test methods, test results, and test fixture design intent.
• Ability to work towards a program schedule and support multidisciplinary teams in a dynamic environment
• Ability to visualize mechanics of solutions and translate them to 3D models
• Basic knowledge of GD&T as well as its application to fixture design.

Basic Qualifications:

EDUCATION REQUIRED:
• Bachelors of Science (BS)

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE 
• 2+ years working in a lab environment
• 1+ years of programing experience for automated Data Acquisition such as LabView
Desired/Preferred Qualifications:
• 2+ years using a CAD tool such as Solidworks to design test equipment or fixtures
• 2+ years of programing experience with LabView
• 2+ years working in a lab environment performing tests.
• 2+ years working with Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Visio)
• Basic GD&T understanding
• Tolerance Analysis (at least one method)
Experience with: 
o Instron Equipment for tensile or compression testing
o SmartScopes
o UV cured adhesives as well as the curing and dispensing systems.
o Environmental Chambers
o Artificially aging polymers
o Failure Analysis
o Presenting to peers as well as managers
o Drawing conclusions from test results
o Providing design guidance based on failure analysis
o Detailed design analysis (kinematics, FEA, system dynamics)
